Muay Thai Bag work- Do it for good health and an easy win over your opponent
Irrespective of the size of your gym, you will find one common instrument everywhere, and that's the Punching Bag. This equipment has lot more functionality to offer a Muay Thai fighter, but because of ignorance, it has turned into an underused accessory.

Beating the soul out of the bag is not the purpose rather you should learn the actual reason behind its need inside a gym.
As the pros say, a bag work is not for showing stamina. It is for dealing with the real battlefield situation. One must treat the bag as his opponent and should throw punches and kicks accordingly. Throw some faints and tester shots as if you are trying to fool the bag. With a pause attack in a defensive mode as if you are trying to make a quick finish off. The moment you start treating the bag like a strong man instead of an object, the whole training level will reach a new height. It will be a mock face off for you every day at your training centre. You will hardly feel any performance pressure or mental stress on the actual D-day.
The ideal strategy says to make a routine exercise of three rounds of pad work followed by three to five rounds of bag work with 10 minutes of interval. Don't attack the bag with ferocity and that too with random shots coupled with for a long time. Instead, keep practising a shot for 10 minutes or 15 minutes until you gauge a little improvement than yesterday and then with a little bit of rest go for a second attacking mode.
So the next time you work on a bag, treat it as a person and perform all kind of defensive as well as attacking skills. In every kind of sport, trainers advice for such bag work to keep the health, mind and energy at a balance.
