Travel Vacation and Muay Thai
Are you planning a travel vacation for your family? I know you already know the best travel destinations in the world. You probably have done an in-depth research of all possible resorts, hotels and reserves for the classiest, most fun and probably pocket friendly locations around the globe. You probably already have one two or three places in mind but if Thailand isn't one of them, I would like you to quickly reconsider.
Instead of looking for a family vacation location like Cancun mexico or Dubai in Abu Dhabi or Kingston Jamaica or Hawaii or the Cayman islands, why not man up, buck up and go learn the ancient martial art of Muay Thai in Thailand with your entire family. Get ready to punch, kick and work up a sweat on your next family vacation.
When you hear the name Muay Thai you mind probably wanders to the 2003 hit movie Ong Bank or probably an MMA championship final fight. Muay thai originated in Thailand and its nicknamed the art of eight limbs because of the eight points used of the body anatomy used for striking. It is deeply embedded in Thai culture and history.
There is no better way to learn and experience this art form than at the land of its origin. Thailand is host to hundreds if not thousands of muay thai gyms or camps. Instead of chilling in Hawaii doing the hoola hoop you can get physically energized doing muay thai training. To be frank, it is not going to be a walk in the park, a bed of roses or a cup of tea, you are going to be punished for sure but you will have loads of fun at the same time.
So how do I and my family get there you might ask. It is not so difficult would be my answer. Thailand has seven international airports. But it is most likely you find a straight flight route from your location to Bangkok without much stress. You can then take domestic flights from there to any other location.
Most muay thai gyms or camps offer train and stay in packages with onsite accommodation. Some have pre existing deals with nearby hotels and resorts. The type of lodging provided varies from place to place, location to location, gym to gym, camp to camp. From simple rooms to luxurious suites; it all depends on what you are looking for and what you can afford. Be prepared for sore muscles and hot and humid weather. Ensure you have travel and health insurance.
There are so many gyms scattered around the country from Chang Mai in the north to Phuket in the south. Some cater for farang which means foreigner while others rarely see a western of foreign face.
Be spontaneous, proactive and reactive and ensure you experience the best of the best muay thai training during your family vacation. I guarantee your family will love and appreciate you a lot more for it.
